Wow, the scholars have shown a very good improvement from last night’s performance. They really showed and applied whatever things they learn from the academy. Everybody have step up and gave a good fight. Even the outfit, especially the girls were really nice. And all of them are not afraid to move in the stage. They know now how to connect to their audience. First to perform was the nerve wracking, Laarni singing Bohemian Rhapsody. It really showed the range of Laarni’s voice. You can really feel how nice her voice is. Even the classical and high notes it was really nice to hear. I really like the changing of the notes from high to low or low to high. She really shows that she has the makings of a good singer. Next was Miguel singing True. Clearly, he was the headmaster’s favorite. He was given a good song choice, but he blew it. He should be the one that should be expelled. It was a disappointing and boring performance. Apple performed next, doing Sweet Love. A very safe performance. Di lumabas yung ganda ng voice nya. Sayang, kasi she really has a nice voice but she don’t want to show it. Ayaw niya bumanat ng bumanat like Laarni. Bugoy singing George Michael’s As. It was very good. He was in his elements last Saturday night unlike the previous gala night, and I’m still wondering why he won over Apple last week. But last Saturday he showed his good voice once again. He even performed it to Tony Hadley when he came to visit the academy and he was very much impressed with his voice. Cris sang Jordin Spark’s Tattoo. She showed a very big improvement. It showed what she can sing and what her voice range is. Sen sang Hold On by Side A. A good performance, though on some high notes, it show na parang pilit nyang inaabot. He looked like his gonna faint after singing the high notes. Next was Van’s version of Tatsulok. What a performance! It was really good, though the voice was not as strong as Bamboo’s but then it was a good choice. Finally a good song choice for Inaki’s voice. The strength of his voice showed in the song, that is Spain by Al Jarreu (I hope I got the spelling correctly). Bunny’s rendition of Lady Marmalade was a good one. It was a good choice also, though there are some part in the chorus na nawawala siya because of her throat problems, but then the performance was good. The dance, the moves, pati outfit. This time around, I know for sure that Liezel’s rendition of Best of My Love by Emotions would not earned her the Top Scholar of the week. She was clearly the mentors and the judges favorite. You can see it with the song choice and the score that the judges have been given her. Last Saturday though, she really sounded freaky. Para siyang si Regine na sinisigawan ka, sobrang nakakabingi sa taas ng note. For sure ginagaya niya si Laarni, but then it’s not her cup of tea. Di nya kaya ang mala classical na voice ni Laarni. It was a bad song choice because of the high notes she did, di maganda sa tenga. Di talaga bagay sa kanya ang dance. Poy ‘s a piece of sky performance was just good. Sobrang taas ng note, sa sobrang kagustuhan na itaas ang note, ayun sumabit tuloy. Ilang beses siyang pumiyok. Clearly, they Liezel and Poy wanted to impress the judges that they too can sing the high note just like Laarni, too bad they cant. But unfortunately, the judges still like their performance which gave them a score of 9 (or more than). Top 3 scholars were Bugoy, Zel and Poy. Shocking! Both na sumabit si Zel at si Poy pero they still belong to the top 3. Well all of them are the mentor’s and judges favorite. Very clearly. Good thing it was Bugoy who won the Top Scholar for the night. If it was Liezel or Poy eh sobrang halata na yan. Then the last performance was not really a showdown, but it was just a duet. Bugoy and Poy sang Magkasuyo buong gabi. Very good. Louie is right, walang sapawan. Very good harmony, may line lang na nagmamadali. A very fun duet. But then, I thought it was a showdown, and that was what Laarni and Poy did last week. Obviously, very clear na si Laarni ang nanalo, and since natalo si Poy, so what they did this week is parang duet na lang. Ano ba yan, ang gulo.
Well, too bad it was Apple who was voted to be expelled. Sana si Miguel na lang kasi hindi naman talaga siya nararamdaman. Yes, maganda ang voice nya, but it really shows na wala siyang natutunan sa academy. He still sings very tight, and his voice is parang common na. Mas gusto ko pa din si Lambert over him, sayang nga lang at Jet won over him sa text votes. Even more shocking was Laarni being part of the bottom four. Grabe! I expected Miguel to be included in the bottom 4. But Laarni? What happen? Oh my! Ewan ko ba, and then who else would the mentor’s choose to save? Sen or Miguel? Dapat naman si Laarni na, sobra na sila pag indi. Well I pity Bunny kasi kung wala lang siyang throat problems, she would be a good contender. But her performance have been up and down.
Hay what else is new. I just hope that this time, the mentors should choose Laarni.
Just a side note, during the midterms where Direk Joey gave the exam. I really like Laarni’s rendition of the song. And the good thing, was he really gave Laarni the top score. Not unlike the Teacher Kitchy and Mr. C. Very evident that Bugoy and Liezel’s performance was not good, but still they are the highest scorers. Sana di lang sa kaibahan ng boses nila tignan, but sa performance din. Yes, I know Bugoy’s voice is really good. In fact, he’s one of my favorite, but if the performance is not good, sana they would give due to someone who performed better, even if di maganda ang attitude, kasi wala naman sa criteria for judging yung attitude ah. Just my opinion. I really hope someone from the PDA management would get to read this.
Hmmm… It is beginning to be a Pinoy’s Nightmare Academy… I hope it would not be..
